See husbands notes for 1900 census data. Her line follows. #53 Strong,Mary boarder WF born Jun1819 Age 70 yrs Wd 51 Yrs married, born PA, father andmother born PA.
Letter from Karen Strong McKellar to PattyStrong dated 17 Feb 1931 gives Mary's maiden name ofWenrick and says according to family lore when they weremarried William spoke only English and Mary spoke onlyGerman. Mary and herdaughter-in-law, Anna Marie, wife of Levi attended the 60thwedding anniversary of Mary"s brother John in IN on 25 May1907. Mary had been to the wedding 60 years earlier. At thetime of the anniversary, Mary was from Leonidas, MI and herdaughter-in law was from Kalamazoo, MI. See John Wenricknotes for complete account of the occassion.
From the "Obituary of Mary Strong" The Express, PO Box 816,Colon, MI, 49040-0816 (1998) a weekly newspaper ran thefollowing obiturary. the clipping is undated.
"Mrs. Mary StrongMary Wernick first saw the light of day in Mellin County,Pennsylvania, June26, 1828, and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. HermanMullen, in Colon,
July 25, 1916 at the ripe old age of 88 years and 29 days.
She was married when 18 years of age to William Strong andwas the mother ofnine children, eight boys and one girl, all of whom areliving. She hadforty three grandchildren, forty five great grandchildrenand one great
great grandchild.
Her husband preceded her to the other shore about thirtyyears ago.
She had a sweet spirit, a happy contented disposition andfound her greatestjoy in the service of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Some months agoshe fell and broke her shoulder bone from which she neverfully recovered, she suffered very patiently. In early life she gave herheart to Christ andwas for many years a member of the Christian Reformedchurch. The funeralservice was held in the Baptist church conducted by Rev.Trott, and the
burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
(Regarding the above obituary, there is no Mellen County,PA and i would suspect it should be Mifflin County wherethe Strongs and Wenricks both lived in Armagh Twp.)
Mary was livingwith her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Herman Mullenat the time of her death in 1916.
CARD OF THANKSWe wish to thank our neighbors and friends for thebeautiful flowers andkindness shown us during our bereavement of our dearmother. We also wishto especially thank Rev. Trott for his kind words and Mrs.Trott and Mrs.
Watson for their music.

.........The cemetery is called Lakeside Cemetery. There is no sign to identify it except on a maintenancebuilding well inside it. It is located on Farrand Rd.just off Colon Rd. If you enter the cemetery throughthe drive farthest from Colon Rd. and go past theoldest graves in the front past a red brick building therewill be a cedar tree on the right. The Strong lot isjust past (almost under) that tree and before you reach agray brick building on the left and a white one on theright. I tried to send you earlier a sketch of theabove description without success. Hopefully, whenyour family visits there this will help save sometime. It took me quite a while to find it with onlythe "buried at Colon" as my clue.
