Russ, Elmer was my grandfather. I have pictures of him also, but I want to get a general date on the pictures before I send them. I have gathered quite a bit of information on his siblings also through old newspaper clippings. And I will take pictures of the gravestones in the spring. I live in northern NY, Harrisville in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains and we still have a lot of snow! Scott Meicht is my cousin……..there is a long story there. I will try to piece things together……..
Elmer Halladay dob 1905, married Beulah Belle Nier dob 4/28/1910. Beulah passed away in the Hope Memorial Hosp, Rochester, NY 1/22/2007. I do not know the date they were married, as I have been unable to find a marriage certificate, approx. year 1928. None of my Aunts or Uncle or father know when they were married. I have some thoughts that maybe they weren't married, but until I figure that out, we will assume they were. Elmer and Beulah had Charles Eugene Halladay (my father) 10/28/1929, Betty Lou Halladay Hayes 1/7/1931, June Marie Halladay Gilbert 5/6/1933, Shirley Mae Halladay Collura 7/19/1935, Gary Glenn Halladay 11/7/1938. All are living. Beulah remarried Gordon Meicht in 1953 and Gary took the name Meicht when he was a small boy and then changed it back to Halladay a few years ago –           his son is Scott Meicht who had sent you info before. Elmer remarried Mary Ford in 1945, no children. In between Elmer Halladay and Gordon Meicht, my grandmother Beulah had a boyfriend and Gloria was born 12/2/1945. And I don't know Gloria's father's name. My cousins and I all thought she was a Halladay, no one asked and her step brothers and sisters never said. Gloria died in 1997. But all the Halladay children are alive.
My father Charles Eugene Halladay married Louise Mary Raven dob 1/21/1935 in Sept 1953. I am the oldest, Shelene Ann Halladay Atkinson dob 7/23/1954, Michael Gene Halladay, dob 6/11/1958, Ronald Wendell Halladay dob 8/2/1964. My parents adopted a boy at age 4, Charles Daniel Norris, dob 10/27/1958.
I surely can fill in the rest of the blanks. Not sure how much more you want to fill in. My only regrets are that I didn't start this before now. I barely remember my grandfather Elmer, only being sick in bed. He suffered from lung disease the last couple of years of his life. My grandmother Beulah and I were very close, but she had a massive stroke in 1997. They saved her, but her quality of life was limited. She was in the nursing home from 1997 until she died. She was a long time confined to bed, and after awhile she was able to maneuver a wheel chair around the nursing home, but couldn't talk. She knew who we were when we visited and was always glad to see us and would sit and hold our hand very tightly.
I am very impressed with your web site. I know how much work it takes to fill in all the blanks!
Thanks for the hard work and information you have supplied.
