Herman Skelton, Jr. ( January 23, 1935 - July 10, 2019 ) Herman Skelton, Jr., age 84 of Constantine, passed away Wednesday, July 10th, at Heartland Health Care Center, Three Rivers. Herman was born in Constantine on January 23, 1935, a son of Herman and Sadie (Thorn) Skelton, Sr. He graduated from Constantine High School in 1954 and served in the Army National Guard. On February 14, 1976, he married Ruby Lydia Bliss in Three Rivers. She preceded him in death on July 31, 1992. Herman worked at Leland Engineering, White Pigeon, for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He raised ponies and participated in many parades. Herman enjoyed hunting and fishing. Herman is  survived by two sisters, Eleanor Pashby, Constantine, and Elizabeth Rentfrow, White Pigeon; brother Robert Skelton, Constantine, sister in law Caralene Skelton, Constantine, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters Frances Hoopingarner and Lillian Holderman, brothers William Skelton and Thomas Skelton, and half brothers Russell, Elwood and Joseph Skelton. Visitation will be held 4 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, July 14th at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine.  Religious Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 15th at Eley Funeral Home.  Pastor Bud Granger, Moorepark Community Church will officiate. Interment will be in Poe Cemetery, Jones, MI. Memorial contributions may be directed to Heartland Health Care Center.  Online messages may be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.

He was born in Constantine on October 4, 1932, a son of Herman and Sadie (Thorne) Skelton. William attended Constantine Schools and went on to serve in the United States Army. On March 3, 1955, he married Lola Garner in White Pigeon; she preceded him in death on August 28, 1998. William retired from Jayco RV in Middlebury where he worked as a mechanic. He also previously worked for Coles Automotive in Three Rivers and Alcona RV in Elkhart. He enjoyed watching Nascar, baseball, skeet shooting, hunting, and fishing. Surviving William are his daughter Linda (Steve) Carlton of Three Rivers, grandchildren Becca (John) Granger of Constantine, Maddy Carlton of Kalamazoo, and Jessica Carlton of Three Rivers; great grandchild Grace Granger; siblings Herman Skelton, Robert Skelton, and Eleanor Pashby all of Constantine, and Elizabeth Rentfrow of White Pigeon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings Frances Hoopingarner, Lillian Holderman, and Tom Skelton, half siblings Joseph Skelton, Russell Skelton, and Elwood Skelton. Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7 at Eley Funeral Home, Constantine. Religious services will be on Friday at 11 am at the funeral home.
