Eulogy For Anna A. Strong by Jack Dunn |
- Eulogy For Anna A. Strong
Anna Abigail Strong: A beautiful lady who blessed us all. Truly, she was "one of a kind."
To her children, of whom she was very proud, she was "Mom", to the rest of us, she was "Grandma Strong". To all of us she was a very special lady.
Grandma was a most contented person. She was one of those rare individuals who never complained, who never had a hard word to say about anything or anybody. Grandma was so easy to please, she was so easy to love.
I remember how my own mom loved grandma. I'll never forget this past January when mom died --what a surprise when grandma strong blessed us with her presence there at the funeral home. Because mom and grandma had a very special love for one another, and because she cared, grandma was there to share with us that love.
Grandma Strong lived up to her name. For she was able to handle the adversaries of life in very well. She had such a strong will to live, not only this past few weeks, but I remember the other times she was sick. I recall once there in the hospital when the doctors gave us so little hope, grandma remained strong in her desire to live. She was determined to get up out of bed, regain her strength and keep on living, and she did, because she was Grandma Strong.
Grandma also had a strong faith. I rememberwell her love for the Lord and for His church. I know how she would alway be there attending church faithfully - until she was unable to do so. Then, I remember all those times when she blessed us with her presence at our Fellowship Groups Meeting at Dutch and Mary's. For my friends, she shared with us her love of life and her blessed smile.
Grandma never had a whole lot to say, but she always had a smile. At the funeral home Thursday evening, Mary was telling me about Lilly, who was one of the ladies there at the home who once shared a bedroom with grandma. Mary once asked her if her and grandma talked a lot. Lilly replied, "No, but we sure do smile a lot". Certainly, my friends, both Lilly, who died just last week, and now grandma have a lot more to smile about as they rejoice together in Heavens' Glory!
The Apostle Paul writes in the bible, "For in me to live is Christ, but to die is gain". Yes! How we will miss you Grandma Strong, we will miss your love, we will mis your beautiful smile, but truly, our loss but Heaven's gain. As I've said before old soldiers of the Cross, those Blessed Saints of God, never die they just fade away in eternity. So it was with Grandma Strong, for my wife was there most of the day this past Tuesday. She remarked to me that evening how grandma many times during the day raised her hand toward heaven as if reaching to Jesus saying "Lord I'm coming home", Without complaining, without pain! With her loved once about her! With the peace of God in her heart! She just slipped away into eternity. Grandma Strong, we will miss you! But someday, perhaps very soon we who love Jesus will see you again to look into your face and see your beautiful smile. What a happy day that will be.
Tribute to a Lovely Lady,
Jack Dunn
