DANIEL ELLSWORTH(7) (ISRAEL(6), ISRAEL(5), SAMUEL(4), SAMUEL(3), JOSIAH(2), JOSIAH(1)), was born 30 August 1822 in Crosby, Canada. He died 16 February 1864. Daniel, as a boy of three, left Canada in 1825 with his father, ISRAEL(6). The family
lived at Ogdensburg, New York and soon moved to Attica, Michigan. He married MRS. PEACEABLE BROWN KING. she was a daughter of DAVID BROWN and ELIZABETH M. SMITH, and a half-sister of EXPERIENCE BROWN, who married GERMAN, a brother of DANIEL. DANIEL joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints about 1840 as the result of the teaching of ELDER BROWN, a Mormon missionary. Later when more than three hundred converts left Michigan for Nauvoo, Illinois, DANIEL purchased a farm of eighty acres from his brother, GERMAN, 29 October 1842. He sold the farm 28 February 1843. Apparently DANIEL did not leave Michigan as he enlisted in the Civil War from Michigan in 1863. DANIEL died of pneumonia in Grand Rapids, Michigan 16 February 1864.
